![]() ![]() A Janus-faced heater, truly cut and lathed to sublimate any DJ set up a brighter, more empathetic headspace.īased out of Hamburg, Lampé goes in commando style on his debut contribution to the Stil vor Talent fold, 'Transmission'. Harnessed by Oliver Koletzki, 'Cracked' morphs into a vibrant peak-time roller, ushering us down frenzied rapids of arps-laden gimmicks, poignant string flights and brassy uplift, ready to take on any raving crowd with both impact and delicacy. Engineering a hair-raising mix of pop-tinged vocal lines, deep house-friendly ambience and anthemic crescendo, Lai elevates us to heaven-like heights, as we find ourselves submerged in a mystique-imbued forest of satin-smooth reverbs and ethereal synthwaves. Written at a moment when he and Jan Blomqvist were touring internationally, "connecting with different crowds and people in different cultural settings, almost every night", 'Cracked' blows the winds of epic partying and emotional whelm across the dance floor, channeling seemingly antipodean rhythmic tropes and influences into a beautifully melancholic piece of stadium-sized electronics. Hot on the heels of his debut transmission for us a couple of months ago, rising producer Jan René Lai returns to SvT with his eagerly anticipated new single, 'Cracked', featuring a remix from label boss Oliver Koletzki himself. Inspired by 70s-era cosmic vibrations and topped off with a touch of hypermodern edginess, both cuts find Highlite at their most forward-thinking and intrepid, leaving no stone unturned in their hair-raising quest for the thrill of it all. The second cut, 'Upon Reflection' threads its way across pumped-up cosmic house landscapes and a hail of Italo-informed arpeggios, beckoning us onto the path of mass daze with its glowing synthwaves and nasty bass traction. Stacking high levels of EBM-informed NRG alongside a big-room-ready techno-house buildup, 'Jump In' blazes with laser-guided synth hooks, ragga-style talk and a flanged, jacking swing set to bring any dance floor to a simmer effortlessly. Built around addictive vocal samples, the lead single packs a monster punch and amps up the volume to delirium-inducing effect. Flash forward to a night of sweat-drenched communion in the basement, this debut delivery from the Moscow-based duo ticks all the boxes of a relentless heater, all eyes on elevating the crowd to a higher state of abandon. Many weapons seem to prove the idea that everything should work as a weapon, like a Jar of Ink.Turning up next with a pair of heavy-duty burners, here's Highlite taking their floor-busting skills to SvT with 'Jump In'.Others take lots of intelligence and components to make, creating more powerful weapons.
